To The Daily Sun,

Do voters realize that if their property taxes or rent are impossibly high, it is in large part because the State of New Hampshire supports local public education at the very lowest rate of any state in the whole country? Furthermore, $51.6 million were budgeted for Education Freedom Accounts for school vouchers to be given out this year with no regard to family income ― that’s money that could be supporting public education.

How did we get here? Representatives in the Statehouse, whether Free Staters and/or traditional Republicans, have been responsible for this ongoing erosion of state support. Taxpayers are paying for this.

This November, we have the opportunity to change this and elect thoughtful representatives who care about all of us, who love New Hampshire and not only want reasonable taxes, but excellent public education, access to healthcare and housing, and preservation of the natural beauty and resources of our state.

Please vote for David Nagel, Al Frank, Bob McLean and Lisa Rivard, individuals who will listen to us and be willing to work across the aisle to achieve reasonable solutions to the many issues facing New Hampshire.

Gilmanton voters, please support Cecil Abels for state senator. As a business person in Rochester who is living the problems we all face, he will wisely represent us.

While the national races are sucking up so much of our attention, do not overlook the impact that we can have on our lives by electing Nagel, Frank, McLean, Rivard and Abels to work for us in Concord.
