To the editor,

Over the next few weeks, many candidates for Laconia City Council will be soliciting your vote. We respectfully ask that all residents be informed voters and ask questions of our city leaders, both incumbent and challengers alike. Many issues face our city. With changes in the state school funding process and a demand on local services that has increased at an alarming rate, the city council is going to have to be creative and resourceful in order to balance the demands on city services and what taxpayers can afford.

Specifically, the Laconia Fire Department is in need of additional staffing in order to perform its job in a safe and efficient manner. Issues such as health insurance, disability coverage and work schedules need to be addressed in order to retain our firefighters. Relationships between the city council and the firefighter's union need to continue to grow and improve. Many positive changes have occurred within the fire department. Many more are still needed.

The men and women of the Laconia Professional Firefighters are supporting Judy Kruhuec, candidate for Ward 1 City Councilor. We believe that Ms. Krahulec is dedicated to seeing the City of Laconia excel in the future. Her dedication to the city has been evident by her commitment to the Weirs Action Committee as well as the Zoning Board of Adjustment. Ms Krahulec promises to continue that dedication, insightfulness and can-do attitude when elected to City Hall.
