To the editor,

A few days ago I read Sherwood's endorsement of McMahon for re-election. Small wonder — "I scratch your back, you scratch mine."

Your readers should remember that McMahon was one of the two most intransigent, unyielding, unfeeling, uncaring, uncompassionate officials in the Correia show trial, by now — after two years — almost an example of historical magnitude of ineptitude and vengeance in small town politics.

McMahon and Fuller also were the two most eager, decorated members of "Sessler's Flying Circus of Obedient Selectmen". Fuller survived re-election, McMahon will hopefully not.

It is still incomprehensible to me how two human beings, i. e. McMahon and Fuller, could so maliciously brake an honest and decent employee's career based on flimsy, constructed evidence and witnesses who gave the most pitiful, rehearsed and meaningless evidence. THAT was the GRAND FINALE of a despicable stage-show. Picture in your minds the allegations versus the achieved result: An unwarranted destruction of a man's career.

These two were able, due to the power given them by Alton's voters, to accomplish this, but they did not brake Correia's spirit. To Sherwood's credit, though, it must be mentioned that he considered the dismissal too severe a punishment.

By voting for McMahon you put yourself on that same level. DON'T do it.
