I want people to have opportunity to own guns, within reason

OK, again not following advice of my family, I’m about to join a conversation that doesn’t end. I’ve been involved in the POW/ MIA issue for over 40 years so those that are waiting for legislatures-politicians to assist a great deal beyond pictures taking or many words that mean little, in fact you may not see them till election time. Don’t give up but keep expectations low, either party makes little difference —Michael Moore on one side, Ted Nugent on other. In a deck of cards, they would be called jokers!

OK, now, let me start digging that hole a bit deeper. I’m a Vietnam veteran so know a little bit about guns (pieces), at least 45 – M 14, AK 47, M 79 – and few others. I was a corpsman so gun knowledge wasn’t my job, but I wasn’t stupid either. I carried anything I could and knew first hand the damage any one of them could do, plus.

I haven’t held one since but want others to have their opportunity — within reason! I guess that’s where the battle lies?

Do I believe in background checks? Absolutely! Do I think we all need an AR 15, AK 47 or any other assault rifle — hell no! Do I think "they" are coming to take our guns away?  I still have to find out who "they" are. Do I think Michael Moore and others like him are idiots? Yes! Should I keep digging? OK, are your legislators and political leaders about useless because of $$$? Yes!

How did these brave presidents, Democrat and Republican, handle the POW/MIA issue? “With the passage of time!” Yup, just do nothing long enough and people will forget IF it doesn’t affect them. Your political leaders, most, didn’t want to get involved — too controversial! How about gun control?

First, change the name "gun control"; nobody likes the word control! DOD just changed the terminology POW/MIA to DSTWAN. What in hell is that, you ask? Duty Status Whereabouts Unknown! Yup, your loved one is in combat area known captive and is now a POW! Do you care? Not your loved one.

Also, responsibility, accountability, let me keep digging here. I know a few teachers. Yes, Your kid does curse at his/her teacher. Your kid is not doing work in school. Your kid does have problems! Get off you duff and pay attention before the end of the school year and don’t blame the school! Responsibility, accountability, faith, trust, truth — are we lacking? Yup, how about that — big enough hole?
