To the editor,
I completely agree with Bev Buker's write-up on Thursday. I have observed this problem too. I went by there the other day and the traffic to the drive-thru was backed-up into the street! I think that piece of property is too small for a drive-thru. They have also lost half the parking spaces they once had. I didn't even see a spot with picnic tables for those of us who wish to enjoy our treat at the store. I liked the old set-up better. There was more room to park and they didn't have a drive-thru blocking traffic. If it's that backed-up, I'll just keep going instead of risking getting rear-ended or hit by oncoming traffic behind me.
I know drive-thrus are for people who are in a rush, but they should've thought this situation out before they decided to do it. Didn't they see the situation at Dunkin'' Donuts across the street? Traffic used to be backed up at that drive-thru. Now that they are across the street next to the Trustworthy Hardware, there seems to be more parking and room for drive-thru. Dairy Queen could've saved their money for another year or two and bought out the old Burger King and built over there — lot more space and they would have waterfront property to boot! Imagine all the business they could've gotten from all the boaters? I would love to be able to stop for a sundae while on the boat! Plus they wouldn't have customers just drive by because there's no parking or even any way to get in the parking lot! I was going to stop at DQ the other day, but the lot was crammed so I kept going.
