The 2017 Interlakes Summer Theatre season is quickly drawing to a close. "Cats" has seen large audiences, and "Gypsy," running August 16 to August 20, will also draw perhaps record setting numbers into their renovated theatre in beautiful Meredith.
The 2017 season has been an overwhelming success, and Nancy Barry and company are pleased to announce an outstanding lineup for the 2018 season!
The four show 2018 season launches with the music and splendor of "Evita."With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, the show concentrates on the life of Argentine political leader Eva Peron, her early life, rise to power, charity work and eventual death.
Next is "The King and I." This Tony Award Winner for Best Musical, with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, features memorable songs like "Hello Young Lovers", "Getting to Know You" and "Shall We Dance."
Third in the series of shows is "La Cage Aux Folles." With a book written by Harvey Fierstein and music by lyrics by Jerry Herman, La Cage is a hilarious and heartwarming musical portrait of love in a non traditional family.
Season 2018 ends with Disney's "Newsies." Based on the real life Newsboy strike of 1899, this musical tells the story of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from the big city.
