LACONIA — Pair of car accidents Thursday sent three people to the hospital.

The Laconia Fire Department responded to the two accidents, and one person was treated for significant injuries.

Laconia police and fire responded to Meredith Center Road at 6:48 p.m. on April 16, for a report of a crash involving multiple cars. Upon arrival, they found two vehicles hit each other head-on, and both were in the road, according to Fire Chief Tim Joubert.

Joubert said there were six total patients. Two were taken to Concord Hospital-Laconia, and the other four were evaluated at the scene. One patient sent to the hospital had a hand injury, and the other had unspecified minor injuries.

The Laconia Fire Department was back in service at 7:17 p.m., and the ambulance returned at 7:44 p.m.

Later that night, Laconia Fire responded to a more serious accident where a car hit a tree.

Joubert said the call came in at 11:34 p.m. on April 16, from a bystander, saying the car was smoking and smelled like gas. First responders arrived at 11:40 p.m. to find a female patient with “significant leg and head injuries.” The patient needed to be removed from the vehicle by firefighters.

“They were able to open the door and get her out, and no extrication was required,” Joubert said.

Only one vehicle was involved in the crash, and the driver was the only one in the vehicle.

The patient was taken from the scene at 11:59 p.m., and arrived at Concord Hospital-Concord at 12:33 a.m. The ambulance was back in service at 2:29 a.m.
