John P. Carroll, 69

John Peppard Carroll, 69, of Rumney, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Aug. 18, 2026, after a courageous, seven-year battle with stage 4 metastatic melanoma.

John was a devoted husband, father, brother, and a man of great character. He shared 34 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Pamela Carroll, and was a loving father to his two sons, Nathan and Ryan Carroll. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Carroll.

John was the son of Robert Leslie Carroll and Alice Bradstreet Peppard and brother to Stephen Barker Carroll.

John worked for a lumber company for 41 years and was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family.

As a child, John spent the summers in Maine, with his family, making memories he cherished throughout his life. John loved golf and, in his younger years, was a talented softball player who enjoyed the game and the friendships that came with it.

During his battle with cancer, John's treatment regimen proved remarkably effective. At the request of his oncologist at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and with interest from other medical institutions, he generously made his medical records and treatment history available for cancer research, hoping his experience might contribute to advances and offer hope to others facing metastatic melanoma.

John faced his illness with strength, dignity and determination. He will be remembered most for his love of family, his humble way of being, generosity, and the many memories he created with those who loved him.

His family will carry his memory and the love he gave them in their hearts forever.
