LACONIA — Police continue to search for a man who reportedly groped a teenage girl at Opechee Point last Thursday. While many tips have come in, nobody has been charged.
“We have received a number of tips through our Tip 411 app, and we are working to pursue any leads,” said Chief Matt Canfield Tuesday.
The suspect is described as being a white male in his 20s or 30s, with brown scraggly hair and beard. He was last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and black vest.
A man reportedly walked up to an a 13-year-old girl and engaged in conversation on Jan. 15. He then proceeded to “touch her inappropriately” and “groped” her, before taking off. The incident took place at Opechee Point near the baseball fields, Canfield said on Friday.
Canfield said police continue to look for homeowners or businesses who may have surveillance video to check and look for someone matching that description on the afternoon of Jan. 15.
There have been no reports of further incidents.
Canfield said matters like these are taken very seriously by the police department, and he urges parents to talk to their children about safety. He also encourages children to use the buddy system when out and about.
