NORTHFIELD — Alma Marion Howe, 84, of Northfield, passed away peacefully at Concord Hospital-Franklin on April 19, 2026, with her family by her side. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend. Alma made a lasting impact on many people, and her presence will be deeply missed.
Alma was born on Aug.10, 1941, in Upton, Massachusetts. One of eight children, she remained close with her siblings throughout her life. She loved helping others and enjoyed getting to know people. Alma faced profound loss in her life, including the passing of three of her children, yet she remained a source of strength and kindness to those around her. She found joy in listening to local music, spending time at the Tilton Senior Center, sewing, crafting, and gardening. She also enjoyed playing games, especially her favorite card game, Skip-Bo. She adored her three grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow as individuals while being a part of their lives.
Alma is survived by her sons, Brian Howe of Gilford, Jonathan Howe and his wife Allison of Gilmanton, and Nathan Shartar-Howe and his wife Esther of Sanbornton; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Howe of Tilton; her three grandchildren, Georgia Shartar-Howe, Grace Howe, and Solomon Shartar-Howe; her partner, Frederick H. Fabian Jr.; her sister, Millie Tymrakiewicz; and her brothers, Robert Erickson and Richard Erickson. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, George A. Howe, and her sons, Gordon, Kevin and Matthew Howe.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 8, at Living Waters United Ministries, 400 W. Main St., Tilton. The family invites all who knew her to attend and share their favorite memories.
