LACONIA — A man has been indicted in connection with a stabbing in the city earlier this year.
Trenton McDonald, 24, was indicted on a charge of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, and on a second charge of being a felon in possession of a dangerous weapon.
McDonald was one of a number of people who were indicted by the latest session of the Belknap County grand jury.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt. Rather, it is a finding by a grand jury that enough evidence of an alleged crime exists to warrant bringing a case to trial.
McDonald is charged with stabbing a 35-year-old man on Blueberry Lane last Jan. 31. The victim was taken by ambulance to Lakes Region General Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.
McDonald later turned himself in at the Laconia Police Station.
At the time of his arrest, Laconia prison gave McDonald’s address as Highland Street, in Laconia. He is currently confined at State Prison for Men in Concord, according to the state Department of Corrections.
