HOLDERNESS — Marine Patrol officers charged an Ashland boater for operating a watercraft under the influence on Wednesday evening.

State Police Marine Patrol officers responded to reports of a hazardous boater threatening others on the shore of Squam Lake at 10 p.m. on July 30.

Upon their arrival, officers located Joseph D. Wescott, 44, and determined he had been boating impaired during their preliminary investigation.

Wescott is charged with boating under the influence and criminal threatening. He was transported to Grafton County Jail, where he was held pending arraignment on July 31.

Marine Patrol officers were assisted in their response by members of the Ashland and Holderness police departments.
