LACONIA — Autopsy results show John Anderson was stabbed in the neck last Tuesday, and the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide.

Anderson, 62, of Laconia, was found deceased at his apartment on South Main Street on the morning of April 14, after Laconia Police went to the residence for a wellness check. Originally reported as a suspicious death, the death soon became a homicide investigation, according to information provided by Laconia Police Chief Matt Canfield on the evening of April 14.

The autopsy took place Thursday, and the Attorney General’s Office shared the results Tuesday night. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner found Anderson’s cause of death was stab wounds to his neck, and the manner of death was homicide.

Homicide is defined as someone dying at the hands of another.

On Tuesday morning, officers of the State Police Major Crimes Unit were searching a home on Cottonwood Trail in Gilford. According to Gilford assessing records, the Cottonwood Trail home is owned by John F. Anderson and Carol L. Anderson.

There were two unmarked police cars in front of the house, and an unmarked car in the driveway at 10:30 a.m., and eventually investigators were seen conferring in the driveway.

Plain clothes officers left their cars and entered the house wearing gloves. Police tape surrounded the perimeter of the property, including the driveway. A state trooper parked in front of the property declined to comment.

State Police Public Information Officer Tyler Dumont said the search was related to a warrant connected to an ongoing investigation, but didn't specify which.

There has been no report of anyone in custody or charges brought associated with Anderson's death.

Detectives are seeking information about Anderson’s communications, whereabouts and any activity at his residence at 217 S. Main St. on or between April 12 and April 14. Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police tip line at 603-MCU-TIPS.
