Back in 2012, Juliet Simms was a contestant in Season 2 of The Voice. She selected CeeLo Green as her coach and ended up advancing all the way to the Finals, ultimately finishing in second place behind Blake Shelton‘s artist Jermaine Paul.
Since then, Simms has rebranded herself and now performs under an entirely different stage name. What is she up to today? Scroll down for the latest updates.
What is Juliet Simms doing now?
While Simms was briefly signed to Green’s label after the show, she decided to leave before releasing an album in 2013. She then began releasing music as an independent solo artist before signing to Sumerian Records in 2019.
However, in 2020, she disappeared from social media, leaving her fans wondering what she was up to. In February 2021, she re-introduced herself as Lilith Czar and has been producing new music and performing shows under that name ever since. Her most recent album was released in 2021, although she more recently put out a single in October 2025.
Why did Juliet Simms change her name to Lilith Czar?
Simms changed her public persona in 2020 after realizing that “everything I had put out or released felt like it had other peoples’ fingerprints on it,” she shared. “People directing me where to go, how I should dress, what I should sound like, what I should write about, what I shouldn’t say. It felt very controlled, apart from some singles here and there. I had had a lengthy experience of being told what to do essentially.”
She said she wanted to do a “complete rebrand.” She came up with the alter ego after connecting with Lilith, a mythological figure, whom Simms describes as “a feminist and she’s a very strong woman. She represents equality and standing up for what she believes in.”
Simms said she began going down a “rabbit hole” about Lilith. “There are a lot of different myths but I came across the story of her and Adam. She predates Eve, but she was born and made from the same filth and dust that Adam was, and because of that, she felt she was his equal,” Simms explained. “She was made to serve Adam, but she wouldn’t submit to him, so he kept her out of heaven and sent her to hell. Lilith represents ultimate female strength and outspokenness and rebellion and going against the norm. Then blending that with a name like ‘czar,’ czar means king. It’s the perfect culmination of femininity and masculinity and equality.”
What happened between Juliet Simms and Andy Biersack?
Simms is married to fellow rocker Andy Biersack. The two started dating in 2011, but met a few years earlier while he was in a relationship with Scout Taylor-Compton. Simms and Taylor-Compton became friends after Simms saw the actress in Halloween II and DMed her on Twitter to let her know she was a fan. When they met in person for the first time, Biersack was there.
At first, Simms and Biersack became friends through Taylor-Compton, but eventually lost touch when Simms and Taylor-Compton’s friendship fizzled out. They reconnected when both of their bands were playing on the 2011 Vans Warped Tour.

In a 2020 interview with Alternative Press, Simms revealed that she and Biersack secretly eloped in 2012 before she filmed the Live Shows for The Voice. However, the marriage was never made legal because they didn’t have the proper witness. It wasn’t until April 2016 that they officially tied the knot.
Just months after their wedding, Simms and Biersack were involved in an incident on a plane. Simms was arrested after the altercation, during which she allegedly hit her husband, on the flight.
Biersack later revealed that Simms “became intoxicated during the flight and was left confused, blacked out and disoriented” after having recently suffered a miscarriage. Biersack also clarified, “She said things that are not true and are in no way her or a part of her character and, despite rumours or conjecture, I will definitively state that we have a happy and harmonious marriage.”
Is Juliet Simms sober?
Yes, Simms has been sober since the plane incident. Prior to the altercation, she had not drank in a year, and the situation on the plane led her to “change everything” in her life, she told HollywoodLife.
“We quit drinking, we quit smoking, we changed our diets, we started exercising, we replaced the whiskey with water,” Simms shared.
In her Instagram statement after the arrest, she added, “To some young people drinking is funny, no big deal or regarded as cool. But alcohol is potentially life-ruining, and can even be deadly if you drink too much, drink on an empty stomach or at high altitudes like I did. Girls, the smaller you are the faster the effect. That’s why I rarely drink – I cannot handle it, and when I do, I turn into someone I am not. This may not be true for everyone, but it is for me and for many of my peers in the music industry who have bravely and completely quit after years of struggle.”
She also apologized to her husband “for what I did and said and for upsetting anyone who was caught up in this.”
