‘The Hunting Party’ Canceled by NBC After 2 Seasons, May Seek a New Home

Will we get all the answers we need about The Pit (not that one)? Sadly, it looks like that might remain a mystery. For now.

The Hunting Party‘s second season ended with plenty of unanswered questions and major revelations that suggested the mystery of The Pit was far from over. Unfortunately, NBC has since canceled the Melissa Roxburgh-led drama, bringing the story to an end after two seasons (as per Deadline).

However, there may still be a small glimmer of hope. According to the publication, Universal Television is expected to shop the series to other networks and streamers. While nothing is confirmed, the series could still find a new home.

The Hunting Party follows a secret government team that’s tasked with tracking down serial killers who escaped from a prison (The Pit) no one knew about — because the world thought those murderers were dead. But that’s just one part of this program.

Is The Hunting Party renewed for Season 3?

No. On June 2, it was announced that NBC opted to cancel The Hunting Party after two seasons.

However, even though NBC canceled the series, there’s still a chance it could continue elsewhere. According to Deadline, Universal Television, the studio behind The Hunting Party, is expected to pitch the show to other networks and streaming services. Netflix, which already streams the series in the U.S., could be a likely option.

The NBC drama is described as “a high-concept crime procedural about a small team of investigators led by former FBI profiler Rebecca “Bex” Henderson (Melissa Roxburgh). They’ve been assembled to track down and capture the most dangerous killers the world has ever seen, all of whom have just escaped from The Pit, a top-secret government prison that’s not supposed to exist.
