Season 2 of Ted is less than two months away, and Peacock is giving fans a new look at what’s to come with the official trailer, which dropped on January 15. It’s been more than two years since the show’s first season, and viewers are anxiously waiting to see what’s next.
Of course, the Ted universe began as a movie (and its sequel) in 2012 and 2015. Seth MacFarlane then created a prequel series, which premiered on Peacock in January 2024. The show follows a younger version of Mark Wahlberg‘s character from the films, John Bennett, as he navigates high school with his best friend — a teddy bear named Ted (voiced by MacFarlane) who came to life after John’s childhood wish on a shooting star.
Now, there’s even more to come in the Ted universe. Scroll down for everything we know so far.
Will there be a Season 2 of Ted?
Yes! Peacock announced in May 2024 that Ted would be returning for a second season. The first season featured seven episodes that were all released on the streamer on January 11, 2024.
When does Ted Season 2 premiere?
Season 2 of Ted will premiere with all eight new episodes on Thursday, March 5, 2026. The release date was announced on December 11.
Prior to this reveal, fans were waiting for more news about the future of the series. MacFarlane previously shared an exciting update with viewers on January 23, 2025.
“Today we wrap production on TED SEASON 2!” he wrote on X. “Thanks to our stellar writers, cast, and crew for all their amazing work on the funniest season yet!” Season 1 had a quick turnaround, with just five months between production and the release date, so hopefully there won’t be too long of a wait for the next installment.

Who is in the Ted Season 2 cast?
Max Burkholder is, of course, back as teenage John, while MacFarlane voices Ted.

The show’s other main characters are Alanna Ubach as John’s mother Susan, Scott Grimes as John’s father, and Giorgia Whigham as John’s cousin Blaire, who is living with the family while attending college nearby.
Unfortunately, Wahlberg is not part of the cast, since the show is set 20 years before the movies that he starred in. MacFarlane previously revealed that it was a “challenge” to nab the actor for a television show due to his busy schedule, which is why he came up with the idea to do a prequel instead.
Is there a Ted Season 2 trailer?
The trailer for Ted Season 2 was released on January 15. The clip starts out with John and Ted in school, with the former telling his friend, “I can’t believe we’re halfway through senior year.” Ted replies, “Yeah, time flies when you’re stoned 15 hours a day.”
John surmises that he’s going to go to college “having never had a girlfriend.” When Ted suggests Erin, who’s single, John points out, “It’ll never happen, though. She doesn’t date dorks.” Once again, Ted has a witty response: “Hey, ya never know. Maybe she’s sick of guys with lots of confidence, chiseled jaws, and huge d**ks.”
Of course, the duo manages to get themselves into loads of trouble. First, they call a phone sex hotline (and are very confused by the woman’s response) from their school. John and Ted are left fearing for their lives when an announcement is made at school afterwards: “Know this, most masturbators are caught within 48 hours,” the principal says.
Plus, they’re chased down by the jocks, as John complains, “This sucks. I’m the same loser I was the day I walked in here.” Check out the full trailer above.
Will there be a Ted sequel?
While this show takes fans back in time, there will also be a story that moves the Ted universe forward in Peacock’s upcoming Ted: The Animated Series (working title). The show will pick up where the Ted films left off.
MacFarlane will be back to voicing Ted in the animated show, while Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, and Jessica Barth will be back to reprise their Ted 2 roles.
