We’re just one month away from the premiere of Sweet Magnolias Season 5! With the new season fast approaching, Netflix released a trailer with scenes of what we can expect when the series returns (scroll down for more).

The trailer release comes four months after Netflix confirmed the Season 4 premiere date. There are also now more still photos of Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott), Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), and Helen (Heather Headley) in the new season.

While many storylines wrapped up nicely in Season 4’s conclusion, there’s still plenty of story left to be told in Season 5. Scroll down for everything we know about what’s to come.

Has Sweet Magnolias been renewed for Season 5?

Netflix confirmed on April 23, 2025, that Sweet Magnolias has been renewed for a fifth season, which will consist of 10 episodes. This was a faster turnaround than when Season 4 was announced three months after Season 3’s 2023 release.

“We are thrilled to let the Magnolias take Manhattan,” showrunner and executive producer Sheryl J. Anderson told Tudum, referring to Maddie’s decision to take a job in New York City at the end of Season 4. “Not only is this adventure huge fun, it’s also an opportunity to explore the facets of their relationships in a new context. While it’s crucial to have true friends in day-to-day life, it’s priceless to have them supporting you when you leap out of your comfort zone.”

Before the renewal, Anderson had already said she was hopeful for more episodes to come. “Everything’s on the table,” she told Deadline. “We don’t have a Season 5 yet, but I’ve been doing this show long enough that 85% of my waking thoughts are about Sweet Magnolias. So all sorts of possibilities exist.”

However, Heather Headley admitted that filming the finale of Season 4 did sort of feel like the end, although she was also hopeful to continue working on the show. “When we got to the end of [filming] it, it felt final, but still in my heart, I was like, ‘No, it’s not done,'” she told Parade.

When does Sweet Magnolias Season 5 premiere?

The episodes will drop on Thursday, June 11, 2026, on Netflix.

Is there a Sweet Magnolias Season 5 trailer?

Yes, the trailer came out on May 11, and begins with Helen, Maddie, and Dana Sue in New York City. Helen goes wedding dress shopping, but fears her happy ending may be too good to be true. “Is something going to go wrong?” she asks her friends.

Meanwhile, Maddie leans on her friends amid her big move, and Dana Sue is worried about the state of her fragile marriage to Ronnie (Brandon Quinn). “I’m sorry, this is my fault,” he says in one scene.

The heart of the show is still the friendship between the three women, though. Watch the full trailer above.

Will there be a Sweet Magnolias spinoff?

One thing Anderson did not entertain the idea of is a possible spinoff for Noreen (Jamie Lynn Spears) or the younger generation of Magnolias, Annie (Anneliese Judge), CeCe (Harlan Drum), and Lily (Artemis).

“What a fabulous idea. But that’s not what we were doing,” she admitted. “Again, this season is about seizing your passion, and we wanted to explore how Noreen felt about nursing, because that had gotten very confused with Bill (Chris Klein) and everything else. And we wanted to show also how Annie, broadening her friendship with CeCe and Lily, is taking advantage of the lessons that her mother and her two best friends have modeled for her whole life.”

Who is in the Sweet Magnolias Season 5 cast?

Swisher, Elliott, and Headley are all returning. Erik (Dion Johnstone) is also back after he and Helen finally got together in the most dramatic fashion. Season 4 ended with their engagement, so there’s a perfect setup for another wedding in Season 5.

Spears is back as Noreen, as is Logan Allen as Kyle Townsend and Quinn as Ronnie. Maddie’s eldest son Ty (Carson Rowland) does not appear in the trailer, but Dana Sue’s daughter Annie (Anneliese Judge) is back. Maddie’s husband Cal (Justin Bruening) also returns, along with Chris Medlin as Isaac, who has a new love interest.

Also joining the cast is Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who plays Nell Winters, a writer that Maddie befriends in New York, Janice Wesley, a town matron of Serenity named Miss Eustice, Courtney Grace as Courtney Sinclar, Ronnie’s new business partner, and John Gabriel Rodriquez, who plays a rival Serenity business owner named Clark Bellson.

Aidan Merwath will also join as Noah Wharton, while Austin Woods will be playing Blake Monaghan. Erik’s niece, Jessica, will also be coming to town and played by Iman Benson.
