Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo faced criticism on Sunday (May 17) after delivering a monologue that prompted some viewers to compare it to North Korean state television.
According to RawStory, Bartiromo opened her weekend show, Sunday Morning Futures, by describing it as one of the “leading critical journalists” covering topics such as “the made-up Russia collusion story” and the “coordinated attack on the American people” by Democrats to “hide serious mental incapacitation” of former President Joe Biden.
Viewers reacted to Bartiromo’s monologue on social media, with journalist Aaron Rupar writing on BlueSky, “Holy s***. Get a load of this monologue from Maria Bartiromo. Move over, North Korean state TV.”
“Maria Bartiromo is shamelessly despicable,” wrote another commenter.
“”Made-up Russia collusion story”? Deep State spying on Trump? No, Maria, this is not “critical journalism”. It’s lying as an outlet for a convicted felon in the White House. I trust this helps you,” another added.
“Modern day Tokyo Rose everyone!” said one X user, referring to the name given by Allied troops in the South Pacific during World War II to female English-speaking radio broadcasters of Japanese propaganda.

Another shared similar sentiments, writing, “The trip to China was a bust. Trump walked away empty handed. Hey Maria, your Tokyo Rose schtick makes you appear stupid.”
Jim Stewartson, a political analyst, added, “She’s just reading Q drops now.”
“One of the jokes among my friends is that when you try to accurately describe what Trump/the GOP are doing right now, you sound like a crazy person,” wrote Jason Karsh, a former Obama administration official. “But if you’ve ever talked to a committed Fox viewer, they will hit you with stuff like this constantly. How do you have a conversation with that?”
“Bartiromo’s become a Russian nesting doll of propaganda!” added another.
Another added, “Remember when she was a respected journo talking about the markets? Now she’s just a Maga hack.”
“I’ve heard people say at one time she was a “normal, highly respectable reporter” I have only seen her on Fox News so I’ve never seen that side of her. I only have seen this bat s*** crazy lady,” wrote one viewer.
Bartiromo’s latest comments come just days after she ranted about Barack Obama when Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) pointed out the differences between the former president and current President Trump when it came to dealing with Iran.
“He didn’t achieve anything! Obama did squat! Obama did squat!” Bartiromo shouted over her guest.
