Michael A. Hildreth, 70, passed away May 9, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, dedication, and love for his family. Born on Oct. 30, 1955, Michael lived a full and meaningful life defined by service, adventure, and the connections he made with everyone around him.

Michael proudly served as active-duty military police before continuing his career with New Hampshire State Police Dispatch and as a local police officer in Northfield, where he was respected for his commitment, professionalism, and willingness to help others. Service to his country and community was something he carried with pride throughout his life.

Outside of work, Michael embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. He enjoyed coin collecting, geocaching, gun collecting, and metal detecting, always appreciating the thrill of discovery and history behind every find. He especially loved riding his motorcycle and the freedom and peace it brought him.

Michael was known for telling unforgettable stories from throughout his life. Whether humorous, heartfelt, or adventurous, his stories brought people together and left lasting impressions on everyone fortunate enough to hear them. His sense of humor, wisdom, and ability to connect with others will be remembered for years to come.

Above all else, Michael loved his family deeply. He cherished the time spent with his sons and daughters and held a special place in his heart for his beloved puppy, Molly, whose companionship brought him great joy.

Michael leaves behind his loving sons and daughters, extended family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by his kindness, stories, and unforgettable spirit.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A graveside service with military honors will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, in Sacred Heart Cemetery on Garfield Street in Laconia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Michael may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

The Smart Memorial Home in Tilton, smartmemorialhome.com, is assisting the family with arrangements.
