U.S. Whovians, rejoice! Doctor Who‘s New Who era (2005-2022) now has a new streaming home stateside after those 13 seasons left HBO Max in July 2025.

AMC+ is now the new, exclusive streaming home to those 176 episodes (including specials, like the Christmas and New Year’s ones as well as the 50th anniversary) beginning on Thursday, June 11. This news comes as that new era of the iconic British science fiction TV series has reached its 20th anniversary this year. (The series premiered in 1963.)

Doctor Who follows the adventures of the Time Lord through all of time and space. In the New Who era, the Doctor, who can regenerate when dying, was played by Christopher Eccleston (Ninth), David Tennant (Tenth), Matt Smith (Eleventh), Peter Capaldi (Twelfth), and Jodie Whittaker (Thirteenth). The alien is also joined by various companions.

Doctor Who strengthens AMC+’s position as a destination for premium genre storytelling – curated franchises defined by iconic worlds, passionate fan bases and enduring cultural impact,” said Courtney Thomasma, Executive Vice President of AMC Global Media’s linear and streaming products. “We’re thrilled to welcome the Whoniverse into our home of fandoms, giving longtime fans a reason to return while inviting new audiences to discover one of television’s most beloved franchises.”

Added Lawrence Szabo, EVP of Content Sales, North America & LatAm, BBC Studios (using one of the Tenth Doctor’s favorite expressions), “Doctor Who is one of the most beloved franchises in television, with a fanbase that spans generations. AMC+ has built a differentiated home for premium genre franchises and deeply engaged fandoms, making it the ideal exclusive U.S. streaming partner for these 13 seasons of Doctor Who. We’re excited to bring these adventures back to longtime U.S. fans and welcome new audiences into the Whoniverse. Allons-y!”

These years of Doctor Who were produced by BBC Studios for BBC iPlayer and BBC One with BBC America as co-producer. BBC Studios is the international distributor for the series.

Doctor Who is currently in its newest era, with a Christmas special set for 2026. No details about it, including who will star after the shocking regeneration from Ncuti Gatwa to Billie Piper, who played companion Rose Tyler, have been released. It’s also unclear where that special will air in the U.S. at the same time that it premieres in the U.K. following the end of the co-production deal with Disney+.
