Netflix‘s Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 is right around the corner, and with the new season comes a wave of changes, especially for Aang, played by Gordon Cormier. Fans can expect to see an older, possibly wiser Aang, as the young actor has grown considerably since viewers last saw him in the first season.
“Shooting Season 1, I was 12, so it’s really the fun memories that stick with you,” the actor told Tudum. “It’s definitely going to be a lot more action-packed and emotional,” Cormier explained. “There are going to be some scenes that push the audience to tears, but also make them laugh.”
In anticipation of the new season, Netflix has released a brand new trailer and new images. Here’s everything we know so far about live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2.
When does Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 come out?
Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 will stream seven episodes on June 25, 2026, down from eight in its first season.
Knight Edge Media reports that Netflix confirmed the episode count and revealed the season’s titles.
Is Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender renewed?
After the Season 1 drop in 2023, Netflix announced that the series had been renewed for Seasons 2 and 3 and that Season 3 would be its last. The classic Nickelodeon animated series was also only three seasons long.
“We didn’t really know if we were getting Season 2 or Season 3,” said Cormier. “And now having both, it’s really awesome knowing I’m going to be able to see them again for a while.”

Gordon Cormier (Aang), Kiawentiio (Katara), and Ian Ousley (Sokka) are set to return for the second and third outings.

Is there a trailer for Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2?
Yes! In the new trailer, the Fire Nation poses a threat once again, this time to the Earth Kingdom. Together, they head toward the city of Ba Sing Se, where the group discovers a large-scale conspiracy.

What happens in Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2?
The second season will pick up after the action-packed events of Season 1’s finale, which ended in victory for Aang, Katara, and Sokka but also delivered a powerful omen in an end-credits scene. The core trio stopped the Fire Nation from destroying the Northern Water Tribe, but that battle was staged as a distraction for the young teens as a larger war was waged miles away. Princess Azula conquered the Earth Kingdom city of Omashu, which had remained out of the Fire Nation’s clutches until that point. King Bumi is now their prisoner.
The fated Sozin’s Comet is shown on the horizon in the Season 1 finale end-credits scene, which is a sign that even more danger is ahead for the heroes. The cliffhanger will have to be addressed when Season 2 picks up.
