Peter Edward Moore of Lincoln, passed away suddenly at his home on May 11, 2026. He was 78.
Born at Melrose Wakefield Hospital, in Massachusetts, on March 16, 1948, Peter was the son of Harold Edward and Joan Lee (Whiting) Moore. He grew up in Wakefield, Massachusetts, graduating from Wakefield High School in 1966, and subsequently attended Northeastern University.
In May of 1975, he married Michele Dodds, also of Wakefield, and they made their home in Lincoln. Peter and Michele operated Loon Mountain Pottery there for the next 20 years. He later worked at the Mount Washington Hotel, the Cog Railway, and became a partner in JSAdams Security. He was active in Lincoln's town government, serving on the selectboard from 2002 to 2012, including years as chair. He was also chair of the Lincoln Public Library trustees for many years, and chaired the building committee for the current library. He said many times over the years that the beautiful White Mountains setting and the good people of Lincoln would keep him rooted here till his last day.
An avid hunter, angler, hiker, and craftsman, Peter was equally passionate about the arts. He and Michele were supporters of the North Country Chamber Players and many music, arts, and environmental organizations in New Hampshire.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Michele; his brothers, Barry James (Ann) Moore of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, and Dana Charles (Jessica) Moore of Freeport, Maine; his sister, Terry Lee Moore of Naxos, Greece; nieces and nephews; and many friends throughout New England.
Don’t be sad. It was life well lived. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
