Ladonna Jane (Swartz) Gillis, 83, of Laconia, passed away on July 22, 2026.
Known affectionately to many as "Grams," Ladonna was born in Sandusky, Ohio, in 1943. She was the 13th of 15 children and took great pride in being the first in her family to graduate from high school. In her free time Ladonna enjoyed knitting and crocheting, afghans being her favorite projects. She was also a voracious reader, James Patterson and Danielle Steele being some of her favorite authors. In the evenings she enjoyed watching rerun episodes of old Westerns from her youth.
Throughout her life, Ladonna lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Quincy, Massachusetts, before eventually settling in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire.
She is survived by three of her siblings, three children, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her no-nonsense attitude, kindness and generosity to all around her.
There will be a private burial at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton, Massachusetts.
