MEREDITH — It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Murray E. Nickerson III, who passed away on Sept. 7, 2025, at his home in Meredith. He was 63 years old.
Murray built a lifelong career in the Lakes Region’s homebuilding industry, where he was widely respected for his skill and craftsmanship as a finish carpenter. Over the years, he worked with prestigious companies and later for himself, contributing his talents to many distinguished homes throughout the Lakes Region. One of his most notable personal projects was building a barn for his father.
Beyond his trade, Murray was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking, and spent much of his free time in the woods, the mountains, or by the water. In his younger years, he also appreciated good old-fashioned road trips, and he made a point of sharing both his love of the outdoors and his outdoor adventures with his children. He valued family and hard work, and he passed those lessons on to them as well.
Murray is survived by his wife, Crystal Nickerson; his five children, Ian and Brittany Nickerson of Colorado, Cody Nickerson of Florida, Megan and Hayden Currier, Tylor and Elizabeth Carlson, and Ryan and Emily Hartman, all of New Hampshire; and his four grandchildren. He also leaves his parents, Anna Nickerson and Murray Nickerson Jr. of Moultonborough; his siblings, David Nickerson of New York, Donald and Barbara Nickerson of Pennsylvania, Brian and Kate Nickerson of New York, and Heidi Davis and Ashley and Shane Pouliot of New Hampshire; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews across the country and the globe.
A celebration of life will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, at Mayhew Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the care of Mayhew Funeral Homes and Crematorium. To sign the online book of memories, go to mayhewfuneralhomes.com.
