Mrs. Evelyn Alice Hamilton, 71, of Salley, South Carolina, beloved wife of Donald Irvin Hamilton Jr., entered into eternal rest peacefully on July 14, 2026, just 13 days before she and Donald would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.

Born on March 23, 1955, in Lebanon, she was the daughter of the late William Lewis Fish Sr. and Rachel Allecia Fillian Fish. She graduated in 1973, from Merrimack Valley High School in Boscawen. Evelyn began her 30-year career with Walmart in Tilton. She was a longtime resident of Gilmanton Iron Works, before making Salley, South Carolina, her home in 2002. After relocating, she continued her Walmart career at the Walmart on Whiskey Road in Aiken, South Carolina, where she remained until her retirement.

Evelyn was a former Girl Scout whose kindness, creativity, and love for others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She adored her beloved fur babies and found joy in hummingbirds, collecting art, crocheting, everything purple, Disney, and especially traveling on cruises with Donald.

Above all else, Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by the people she loved. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 52 years, Donald Irvin Hamilton Jr.; her daughters, Cassandra Ann Hamilton and Dawn Marie Plummer, and Dawn's boyfriend, Eric Alexander; her cherished grandchildren, Sarah Marie Piper, Clay Piper and partner Kris Phillips, Cameron Alexander Plummer and longtime girlfriend Presley McGarry, Hayley Rachel Hamilton and fiancé Tim Babine, and Savannah Evelyn Maloney and Harold Maloney. Her love, encouragement, and unwavering support will forever remain in the hearts of her family.

Evelyn cherished her brother and sisters, Victoria Chaffee, Charles and Debbie Fish, Bill and Suzanne Fish, Judy and Larry Labrie, Stanley and Karen Fish, as they truly were her best friends.

Relatives and friends attended a celebration of Evelyn's life at 2 p.m. on July 19, in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Graniteville, South Carolina. In accordance with her wishes, Evelyn was cremated. A second celebration of life will be held on a later date in New Hampshire.

In honor of Evelyn's lifelong love of animals, memorial contributions may be made to the Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare at letlovelive.org.
