LACONIA — Charles “Joe” H. Bonner Jr., 77, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025.
Charles was born in Laconia in 1948, son of the late Charles Bonner Sr. and Catherine Bonner of Meredith. He attended Inter-Lakes High School and was a lifelong resident of Meredith and Laconia.
Charles' work included employment in sales and as a job site supervisor selling garages and home improvement services. He also worked as a project assistant for an engineering firm, as a commission judge for the NH Parimutuel Commission, as an investment manager for Money Concepts International, and for Lewis & Saunders as a machinist. Charles also owned White Mountain Leasing for nine years, doing commercial and industrial leasing. Charles was a military veteran serving in the U.S. Army/368th Engineering Corps.
Charles had a lifelong interest in hunting and fishing. In retirement, he greatly enjoyed competitive skeet/trap shooting and traveled around New England attending skeet/trap meets with his shooting friends.
Charles was married for 51 years to his wife Cheryl, and leaves behind many nieces and nephews in the Meredith and Laconia communities.
Calling hours with a memorial service will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Mayhew Funeral Home, 204 Daniel Webster Hwy, Meredith.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the Wicwas Grange, 150 Meredith Center Road, Meredith.
A private family graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Meredith.
