ALEXANDRIA — Carrie M. Wiswell, 61, passed away Sept. 1, 2025.

She was born April 12, 1964, in Lancaster, one of 17 children of Frederick C. and Doris V. (née Maguire) Hand Jr.

She grew up in in northern New Hampshire, graduating from N. Stratford High School. She worked at Tillotson Rubber Factory for many years before moving to Alexandria. Locally she worked as an inspector at Freudenberg in Bristol.

In 1997, Carrie met and married Erwin Wiswell. They settled in Alexandria where Carrie spent her time gardening and canning her harvest. She was a real homebody and enjoyed reading, playing words with friends, and she loved to play the lottery.

She is survived by her siblings and their spouses or significant others, Gerard Hand of Groveton, Margaret “Peggy” (Steve) Willard of Springfield, Vermont, Larry (Nancy) Hand of Evans Mills, New York, Eleanor (Jody) Riley of Beecher Falls, Vermont, Doris (John) Kennett of North Stratford, Donald (Norma) Hand of Groveton, Jon (Sandra) Hand of Stewartstown, Connie Hand (Keith Smith) of Colebrook, Lori (Moon) Howard of Colebrook, Dean (Rose) Hand of Colebrook, and Terri Hand (Mike Belouin) of Colebrook; many nieces and nephews; her sister-in-law Shelly (Scott) Brown; and best friend Terri (Kevin) Cook.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by siblings Raymond Hand, Wayne Hand, Mary Ann Hand, David Hand and Richard Hand.

There are no calling hours.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the Village Cemetery, 118 Main St., Colebrook.
