LACONIA — Carmen Juliette Sanborn, 93, of Mechanic Street, passed away peacefully on Jan. 6, 2024.

The firstborn child of Arthur and Beatrice (Paquette) Fecteau, born on July 13, 1930, in Laconia, she was a life member of the Swift Water Girl Scout Council and was a leader for many years. She was also an extremely active member of St. Andre Bessette Parish and a member of their Ladies Guild.

Carmen is survived by her loving daughter Heidi Sweetland, grandchildren Kaela Sweetland and Colin Sweetland, brothers Ralph Fecteau and Arthur Fecteau Jr., and sister Marcella Albee, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Carmen is predeceased by her husband Erwin "Sam" Sanborn, and siblings, Maurice Fecteau, Gerard "Joe" Fecteau, Paul Fecteau, Jean Fecteau, Priscilla Fecteau and Monique (Fecteau) Groux.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, at St. Andre Bessette Parish - Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m.

The family requests that instead of sending flowers, please consider making a memorial donation in Carmen’s name to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation National Headquarters, Attn: Financial Operations, 733 Third Ave., Suite 510, New York, NY 10017, or to the Lakes Region Visiting Nurse Association, 186 Waukewan St., Meredith, NH 03253.

Burial will be held in the spring.
