Barbara A. Burnham, 79

Barbara A. Burnham, 79, of Woodsville, passed away peacefully on Oct. 26, 2025, in her home.

Barbara was born on May 28, 1946, in Oakland, California, the daughter of William and Bernice. She proudly served in the United States Army out of Fort McClellan, Alabama, and later continued her life of service working at the White River Junction VA Medical Center in Vermont, where her compassion touched countless lives.

She was predeceased by her father William, her mother Bernice, and her brother David. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her family: her two daughters, Cynthia Ruggiano (John) of Rindge, and Katherine Burnham-Kelly (James) of Colorado; her brother Steven of Texas; and her sisters Susan and Kelly of Nevada. She was also the proud grandmother of Catarina of Florida, Tristan and Devon of Colorado, and great-grandmother to little Jaina of Colorado, who brought her immeasurable joy.

Barbara’s family was her heart. Her grandchildren and great-granddaughter lit up her life, filling her days with laughter, pride and happiness. She also had a deep love for art, the beauty of nature, and the soulful music of B.B. King, all of which brought her peace and inspiration. Her home in the woods with her dog Oscar and her birds was her sanctuary, a place that reflected her spirit —strong, serene, and full of quiet beauty.

A burial with military honors will take place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen, at 11 a.m., on Friday, Sept. 18, where she will be laid to rest with the deep honor she deserves. We invite family and friends to join us in celebrating her life. Please arrive 20 minutes early to line up behind the lead car at the administration building.
