GILFORD — Arnold Dee Witbeck, age 80, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015 after a long illness.
Arnold was born on Dec. 9, 1934 in California and raised in Utah. He was the son of Morris Dee and Erma Bess (Emery) Witbeck and the loving husband, best friend and companion of Helen J. Witbeck. Arnold was the father of Carrie Banks, Cindy Nicolds, Arlan Witbeck and Dorie Suskie. He was a grandfather of 14 grandchildren, a great-grandfather of 7 great-grandchildren and stepfather and step-grandfather and great-grandfather to many more. He was predeceased by his brother, Morris Dee Witbeck.
Arnold had many hobbies and interests which included flying a Cessna 182 and traveling the countryside with his wife Helen. He was an NRA member and he also served in the Army reserve. He valued his membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Without his presence, the world is a little less interesting. We will miss his conversations and knowledge on diverse topics and insights both helpful and strange. He was a character. We will miss his smiles, his hearty laughter and his love for his family. Arnold lived his life the way he wanted it to be lived till the end. Be at peace our friend and continue to watch over us all. Know that you are loved.
There will be a memorial service for his friends and family on Monday, June 22, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1442 Old North Main Street, Laconia, NH. He will be interred in his family plot located in Salt Lake City at a later date in August.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice in Arnold's name.
