GILFORD — Ailene L. Larson, 95, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, at St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Laconia.

Ailene was born on Oct. 25, 1930, in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Edward Hogan and Evelyn (Breault) Hogan. She was the youngest of five children.

She and her husband Robert built their first home in Burlington, Massachusetts, where they raised their two children. For 28 years she worked for the Burlington Public Schools as a cafeteria worker. She loved seeing the students every day, took pride in her work, and made many life-long friends with her co-workers. She loved her job and spoke fondly of those days throughout her life.

Ailene and her husband built their retirement home in Gilford, where they had vacationed for many years on Lockes Island and fell in love with the Lakes Region. She spent many a day gardening and had a green thumb where her plants thrived whether indoors or out, and she loved mowing the lawn well into her late 80s.

Most of all, Ailene loved her family first and foremost. Her home was always the favorite gathering place to celebrate birthdays, holidays, graduations, or to enjoy the weekend where the food was always plentiful and made with love. You never left her home hungry. She took great pride in her children's many accomplishments and her granddaughter, Lisa, was her pride and joy.

Last October, Ailene and her husband commemorated their 76th wedding anniversary. Over the years they enjoyed travels to Florida, California, Hawaii, and all over the New England states.

Ailene is survived by her son, Robert Larson Jr., and his wife Donna of Gilford; daughter Lynda Nadolny and her husband Steve of Woburn, Massachusetts, and Gilford,; granddaughter Lisa Nadolny of Wheeling, West Virginia; nephew Bernie Sharp and his wife Pat of Braintree, Massachusetts; and Jackie Sharp of Huntersville, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, Ailene is predeceased by her husband, Robert Larson Sr., who passed just eight months earlier.

Calling hours will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia.

A graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, at Pine Grove Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all of the nurses, aides, administration and staff at the St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Home who cared for Ailene with the utmost dignity and respect, treating her like family. They are all truly amazing and we are forever grateful.
