Meredith Village Savings Bank commits $3,000 to helping local non-profits through 2010 season of Patrick's Thursday Night Comedy

Patrick’s Pub & Eatery began its 15th year of Comedy on January 7, launching another season as New Hampshire’s longest running comedy venue. For the 2nd season, presenting sponsor Meredith Village Savings Bank has committed to partner with Patrick’s Thursday Night Comedy to raise money for a dozen local charitable organizations. For the 2009 season, MVSB contributed almost $2,000 to the 12 participating organizations. MVSB has committed to contribute up to $3,000 for the 2010 comedy season.

“We were delighted to present 11 checks to these very worthy organizations as part of our sponsorship with Patrick’s Comedy with a Cause program”, said Cindy Hemeon-Plessner of Meredith Village Savings Bank. “We look forward to presenting bigger checks to these local support organizations at the conclusion of the 2010 Comedy season. We are very pleased to partner with Patrick’s, an organization that shares our values of giving back to the community”.

“It’s very simple” explains Patrick’s Co-Owner Allan Beetle. “All it takes is for our comedy patrons to let their server know which charity they’d like to make a donation to. Five dollars of their admission price will go to that organization. It’s up to the participating organizations to spread the word to their supporters so that their organization will benefit from this program.”

The Boys & Girls Club, Community Health & Hospice, Genesis Behavioral Health, Laconia Area Community Land Trust (affordable housing), Lakes Region Community Services, New Beginnings, NH Humane Society, Ozanam Place, Project EXTRA!, Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, are all participating organizations. “We are always looking for creative ways that help us to raise funds in order to deliver our services”, explains Mary Lee Gorham-Waterman of the NH Humane Society, “and this certainly fall into the ‘creative’ category. We are also very grateful to Meredith Village Savings Bank for sponsoring this program”.

In addition to the support of Meredith Village Savings Bank, media sponsors Nassau Broadcasting, The Laconia Daily Sun and the Weirs Times have joined ranks in support of Comedy with a Cause.
