By popular demand, Salvatore (Sal) Basile, is coming back to the Lakes Region to celebrate Italian culture with an evening of Italian music. On Saturday, May 22 at 7 p.m. the NH Lakes Region Italian Cultural Club is hosting a concert at the Weirs Community Center with the Italian-American singer who performed in Laconia last September for Multicultural Market Day.

Basile was born in Girifalco, Italy, province of Catanzaro, Calabria. The first music he heard was his father playing Italian love songs to his mother, prompting his love of music and guitar. He also plays the piano and bass guitar. He has a degree in Italian in the state of Connecticut. By day he is an English teacher in the Hartford Public School system. In his off time, Girifalco plays Italian and American music. He played in an Italian-American Dance Band for 10 years and now plays in his own rock-n-roll band, TriplePlay. He lives in Weathersfield, Connecticut, with his wife Mimi, son Sal, and rat terrier Missa.

Everyone is cordially invited to join the NH Lakes Region Italian Club for a fun filled evening of authentic Italian music that will make you laugh as well as cry. Light refreshments and cookies will be served during the intermission. Tickets are $15 per person. For tickets visit the Gilford Public Library on Potter Hill Road in Gilford, or the following places in Laconia: the Chamber of Commerce, 383 S. Main St., Sundial Shop, 604 Main Street, Laconia Antique Center, 582 Main Street, and Greenlaw’s Music, 633 Main Street.
