LACONIA — Laconia Adult Education will offer a vast array of enrichment courses when the fall semester kicks off beginning the week of September 27.

Enroll in Yoga, Welding, Cooking International Cuisine, Zumba, Quilting, Calligraphy, Golf for Beginners, Water Color Painting, Basic or Advanced Dog Obedience, Accounting Basics, or Wheat & Gluten Free Cooking.

Free Adult Math and Reading Clinics will help adults feel more competent in being able to meet their personal, vocational and family obligations by improving their life coping survival skills.

Individuals from foreign countries can learn to speak, read, write, and understand English for free. If you know of someone who needs ESOL help, please call the Adult Ed office at 524-5712.

Prepare for the SAT or the GED exams. Laconia Savings Bank will provide limited scholarship help to residents of Laconia, Gilford, Meredith, Moultonborough, Center Harbor, Plymouth, and Bristol wishing to attend Laconia Academy and get a High School Diploma. The Adult Success Program through a Grant from the NH Charitable and the Pardoe Foundation will also provide limited scholarship help. Financial need must be demonstrated.

A class for the Computer Illiterate will be offered in addition to courses in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Web Design Using HTML.

Take a Budgeting and Money Management class, learn how to make smart investments in stocks and bonds for today's market with a free Wealth Planning Workshop Series or how to make informed decisions in Planning for Retirement and Investing Strategies: What Every Woman Should Know! Attorney Scott McGuffin will teach a class on Estate, Wills, Trusts & Guardianship Planning.

Enjoy an evening Wine Tasting Seminar and Gourmet Dinner, enroll in a Reiki or Tai Chi class or be adventurous and try your hand at Knitting for Beginners, Juggling, Line Dancing or Ballroom Dancers: Singles Welcomed and Partners Not Required.

Enjoy a class in Mah Jongg Made Easy, Digital Photography, Drawing Cartoons & Caricatures, Glass Fusing: Jewelry Making, or Cake Decorating. Explore your ancestry with Genealogy. Learn Sign Language or how to speak Spanish or French.

Welding Basics Arc, Gas, Mig & Tig, and CADD Using SolidWorks are on the schedule as are Woodworking and an Advanced Welding specializing in TIG Techniques.

Find out about the benefits of Herbal Medicine and Homeopathy with Kathryn Cranford, ND or Holistic Roots to Healthy Living and Lifestyle Choices taught by Brian Paterson, ND, who will also lead a seminar on Acupuncture, Herbs & Holistic Medicine. Algebra 1, Chemistry & Lab, and Human Biology & Lab are all available for pre-nursing students.

The Adult Tutorial Program for Belknap County needs volunteers to help non-reading adults learn to read, write, and do simple mathematical computations needed for everyday life. The program also needs volunteers who are willing to help people learn to speak, read, and write English as a second language. Volunteer tutors will be trained to work on a one-to-one basis with adult students.
