WOLFEBORO — You are invited to join the Lakes Region Conservation Trust and the Stewardship Network of New England on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 9:30 a.m. to noon for a workday centered on the management of invasive species at the Sewall Woods Conservation Area in Wolfeboro.

This beautiful piece of nature nestled within the bustling Wolfeboro community provides recreation of all kinds including running trails, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and walking. One area in particular has slowly been taken over by several varieties of invasive species including multiflora rose, bittersweet and Japanese barberry, however, new species such as Japanese knotweed and garlic mustard have also started to sprout up.

LRCT has developed a long-term management plan to address the most highly effected areas. Working with partners such as Pathways of Wolfeboro and the Wolfeboro XC Ski Association, LRCT plans to reclaim an old meadow which is full of native apple trees but we need your help to keep this area contained.

Please come prepared to get dirty! Wear sturdy shoes/boots and clothes and bring work gloves and plenty of water. Light refreshments and the tools needed for the day will be provided. If you are interested in helping please contact Erin Mastine, LRCT Communication Coordinator, at emastine@lrct.org or by calling 603-253-3301 or visit the Stewardship Network’s website at newengland.stewardshipnetwork.org to register.
