HOLDERNESS — Squam Lakes Natural Science Center has received a $25,000 gift from The Meredith Rotary Club for the Education Matters Capital Campaign. The gift will be used to enhance the quality of education that the Science Center provides.

Since its founding in 1966, Squam Lakes Natural Science Center has become a respected statewide leader in teaching and promoting environmental education. Education guides everything it does — from teaching natural science in classes and programs, to trails, animal exhibits, lake cruises and more.

The vision of the Education Matters campaign is that visitors of all ages gain a greater understanding of ecology and a lifelong respect and appreciation for the natural world leading to active environmental stewardship.

“The Meredith Rotary has been a long-time supporter of not only the Science Center but the larger Lakes Region community,” said Science Center Executive Director Iain MacLeod. “We are very fortunate to have them in our community. We look forward to furthering our educational outreaches about New Hampshire’s ecology to people throughout the region.”

“The Meredith Rotary Club is very pleased to be able to support Squam Lakes Natural Science Center. As parents and grandparents, our many Rotary Club members know first-hand just how critically important the Science Center’s positive message is for our next generations,” said Bonnie Hunt, Meredith Rotary Club member. “We also love directly supporting the Science Center’s animals of all shapes and sizes with fish donations from the Meredith Rotary Ice Fishing Derby. We wish the Science Center continued success!”
