CAMPTON — Laura R. Aldrich, a 2006 Plymouth Regional High School graduate, was recently selected by the Michael J. Fox Foundation to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, located in Tanzania, to support Parkinson’s disease research.
Aldrich applied to join Team Fox in memory of her father Boyd Aldrich, who passed away in April 2021, after 23 years with the disease. Boyd was active in the local community and known to many as the “Ice Cream Man,” having worked in the frozen food section of Hannaford, previously known as Shop ‘n Save, for 30 years.
Laura was in middle school at Campton Elementary when Boyd was diagnosed. She knows first-hand how research and scientific advances can drastically improve treatment and quality of life for people with Parkinson’s. Laura has pledged to raise $10,000 in 2023 before her Mt. Kilimanjaro trek in August.

Laura is an officer in the U.S. Navy and the daughter of Nancy Aldrich of Campton.
