BRIDGEWATER ― Join the Newfound Lake Region Association at the Newfound Lake Inn on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 5 p.m. for Newfound Science Pub, an engaging way to connect with experts in science and conservation ― over food and drinks.
Lakes in New Hampshire are constantly changing with the seasons as natural cycles influence water clarity, plant and algae growth, and when cyanobacteria blooms are most likely to occur. Georgia Bunnell, exotic species program coordinator and limnologist with the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, will take a closer look at what happens in a lake over the course of the year, from ice-out in spring through the heat of summer and back into cool weather again.
Explore how seasonal changes affect water quality, why some years bring more challenges than others, and how understanding these patterns can help us make better decisions about how we use and protect our lakes. Discuss current issues, ask burning questions, and share personal perspectives in a casual, social atmosphere.
The Newfound Lake Region Association’s mission is to protect and improve the health of Newfound Lake and its watershed. Through focused programs and community engagement, NLRA supports ecosystem resilience and natural resource conservation. Guided by a vision of a cleaner, clearer Newfound Lake, the organization works to improve environmental health, expand land conservation, grow watershed stewardship, and strengthen community support.
This event is free; attendees arrive around 5 p.m. to purchase food and drinks, and the conversation begins at 6 p.m. Registration is required. Register by visiting NewfoundLake.org/events or calling 603-744-8689.
