MEREDITH ― The Meredith Rotary Club recently held its annual Four Way Test Speech Contest.

All students were from Inter-Lakes Middle High School. Claire Clark, won first place; Kiera Moynihan, second; Gus Marshall, third; and Hayden Hebron and Jenna Spiegler were runners-up.

Clark’s speech addressed cancel culture. She will move on to the district semifinal in Henniker on Sunday, April 12. The contest is open to all high school-age students who live within the Inter-Lakes or Moultonborough Academy School districts.

Those entering the contest must prepare a 5 to 7 minute speech based on the Rotary Four Way Test. Each of the following four questions must be addressed:

  1. Is it the truth?
  2. Is it fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
  4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

The students must apply original content to important issues in their everyday relationships with other people.
