MEREDITH — Meredith resident Lawton Read made use of the Meredith Public Library’s new 3D printer, generously gifted by Heart and Hands Thrift Shop, to fabricate a replacement part for the restoration of a vintage Merc 75 outboard motor to be on display this summer at the New Hampshire Boat Museum in Wolfeboro. The part, a fuel gauge lens, could not be procured by other means. Lawton created a 3D model of the part using Sketchup and brought his model to the library to be sliced and printed. It took about one hour to print the part and Lawton was pleased with the results. Would you like to use the 3D Printer? Email chris@meredithlibrary.org for more information. (Courtesy photo)
