The Lakes Region Symphony Orchestra will offer its first concert of the 2024-25 season, taking place at 7 p.m. on Nov. 2, at Hanaway Theatre, Plymouth State University.

As LRSO begins its 49th season, this evening of music promises an experience for music enthusiasts of all ages.

This concert, titled "Romantic Revelations," features three masterful compositions: Felix Mendelssohn's haunting "Hebrides Overture," Antonin Dvorak's glorious "Cello Concerto in B minor" (1st movement), and the beautiful but lesser known "Symphony No. 2" by Vasily Kalinnikov.

The featured soloist for Dvorak's Cello Concerto is Ian Jang, winner of LRSO's 2024 concerto competition. Jang's track record includes accolades in competitions such as the Taiwan International Music Competition and the Charleston International Music Competition. His performances have earned him top honors at the Swiss Concours and the AMIS International School Honors Orchestra Concerto Competition. Jang is also recognized for his innovative blend of music and technology, producing virtual concerts that showcase his multifaceted talents.

Concert sponsors are Ravena and John McIntyre, and Evelyn and Michael Miller.

Tickets are free PSU students, with a cost for other students and adults. For tickets, visit LRSO.org or at the Silver Center box office at 603-535-2787.
