MEREDITH ― Four Inter-Lakes teams (two elementary and two middle level) recently competed at the state Destination Imagination affiliate tournament in Bedford, after securing their spots at the regional tournament in March.
Destination Imagination uses competition to test creative solutions to complex challenges through teamwork and the application of the creative process.
From the elementary school, teams named “It's Fine, I'm Fine, Totally Fine” and “Me Me Me” came in fifth and sixth in their challenge “Becoming Super.” Competing at the middle level in “Becoming Super” was the “Blobfish Return of the Asparagus,” garnering a third-place finish. Meanwhile, the middle school team “Humble, Hairy Howler Monkeys,” competed in an improvisational challenge and finished in second place.
A second-place finish earned them an invitation to the Global Finals in Kansas City, Missouri in May where they will compete against teams from all over the world. The“Howler Monkeys” are excited about the opportunity and are amidst the added challenge of raising about $15,000 to cover the costs of entrance fees, transportation, food and housing for this endeavor.
The team hosted a bake sale last week and have an active T-shirt sale running. Sponsorship and donations can be coordinated by emailing Club Coordinator Meg Hayman at meg.hayman@interlakes.org. To learn more about the nonprofit Destination Imagination visit nh-di.org.
