The Belknap County Conservation District is taking orders for its annual Tree, Flowers and Trout sale, a fundraiser, through Feb. 27. Visit belknapccd.org/tree-shrub-sale to see the 2024 item selection, which includes fruit and nut trees, raspberry and blueberry bushes, strawberry plants, asparagus roots, shade trees, Christmas trees, plants for wildlife food and shelter and flowers.
Homeowners with a private pond that is not linked to other surface waters, such as a stream or lake, interested in stocking their pond can also order trout. Orders for trout that are 6 to 8 inches will be ready for pick up on April 30; 10- to 12-inch trout will be delivered to the pond.Â
Funds raised also help BCCD with Belknap-based conservation projects, such as stream restorations, culvert assessments and replacements, and fresh produce supplied by local farmers for donation to food pantries and seniors.Â
Most of the plants are sold bare root, with no soil, and in a dormant state, and others will be in pots. BCCD recommends customers place their orders by Feb. 27, however, orders will be accepted after the deadline while supplies last.Â
