GILFORD — The First United Methodist Church will continue its long tradition of serving bean-hole beans as part of its annual Harvest Supper on Saturday, Oct. 19.

For 47 years, the church has been cooking bean-hole beans in huge iron pots placed in holes dug behind the church and lined with red-hot stones. The beans are then buried and cooked overnight until they are perfectly done.

Besides the beans, the dinner includes a family-style, all-you-can-eat meal of corned beef, cabbage, boiled potatoes, carrots, and rolls, with apple or pumpkin pie for dessert.

Tickets are available for both the 5 and the 6:30 p.m. seating. The cost is $15 for adults and $7 for children under 12. Tickets are available in the church office. To make a reservation, call 603-524-3289. The best time to call is 8:30 a.m. to noon on Monday-Friday. If leaving a message, give your name, number of tickets, and a phone number for a callback.
