To The Daily Sun,
We need to save our bees!
Have you noticed that our bee and monarch populations are declining? This is of great concern to me. Many bees have been listed on the endangered species list. In fact, our rusty-patched bumble bee, golden northern bumble bee and yellow-banded bumble bee are in decline. We need our bees, monarchs and all pollinators.
In addition, our food supply and environment are being compromised. Many of us are concerned about the use of the herbicide called glyphosate, which has been determined by the World Health Organization as a possible carcinogen. We are in the time of the Sixth Mass Extinction and we have an insect apocalypse which is included. Let's turn this around and learn how to stop the extinction which is the rapid loss of biodiversity. We can do this!
If you are interested in an upbeat time, learning about saving the bees and monarchs, HB-646 — “The N.H. Saving Our Pollinators Act” — which is being retained, promoting organic solutions, organic gardening ideas, raising awareness of the harm of pesticides and neonicotinoids, promoting food and seed sovereignty and protecting biodiversity for our future seven generations, then please come to the Save Our Bees and Organic Seeds, May 18, at 10 a.m. at the City Plaza in Concord, right next to the Farmers' Market.
Speakers will be: N.H. State Representative Catherine Sofitikis; M.S. Molecular Biology & M.A. Archealogy, Beekeeper Laura Wolfer; and me, N.H. Save Our Pollinators Coalition and NH March Against Bayer-Monsanto Community.
There will be fun bee activities for children, including planting with organic seeds. We will have a free organic seed table featuring High Mowing Organic Seeds for our local gardeners and an organic, non-GMO, non-perishable food drive for a Concord homeless shelter.
This educational rally is planned by N.H. Save Our Pollinators Coalition, N.H. March Against Bayer-Monsanto Community and is sponsored by N.H. Peace Action. Supporters are Non-Toxic N.H., Agrarian Trust and Farmland Consulting.
There is a great motivational sister rally the same day, led by Occupy New Hampshire Seacoast at Portsmouth Farmers' Market, 1 Junkins Avenue, at 1 p.m. Local activist David Holt will be the host. The rally will have educational handouts and free High Mowing Organic Seeds.
We are part of a worldwide event where thousands will march in solidarity. Please join this fun family event and bring your friends.
