Steven Earle: Crack down on drug leaders & 90% of gun crime will disappear

Lately I've been trying to ignore individuals and focus on issues but I just have to confess that some comments by some writers have gotten the best of me. For instance Bill Dawson has again taken to "correcting" Tony Bouton, who over the years has formed his opinions based on well researched and provable facts while Dawson's opinions are formed by liberal political talking points. He is correct that clean energy should not be a political issue but it is. Fact is, the only the only truly clean energy production method is atomic energy but that has been politicized literally to death.

Bernadette Loasch has taken her shots against the president right off the talking points at CNN (Communist News Network), which has been proven wrong more times then Provda. Doesn't matter how many classic books she has read, she is unable reason independent of of the political left's guidance. Then Kent Rosberg is offended by Trumps choice of words to criticize parents who allow their kids to be lazy, overweight couch potatoes. Okay, he's offended. So what? But is the president wrong or is Kent just looking to get his digs in? James Veverka, a Christian hater ( Christaphobe?) who blames all the worlds ills and wrong doings on Christians, takes issue with Russ Wiles, who presented a reasoned counter point to the narrative that climate change is man caused. Not able to prove Mr. Wiles wrong, he attacks the credentials of some of the scientists cited by Wiles. Two of the three he dismissed were because they were Christians, not because of anything else. What he didn't address was was the former president of Green Peace, who resigned from that organization going as extreme as James has himself. The other holds a PhD., making him as qualified to render an opinion as well as as any of the paid to find the wanted results required to scam the nation bunch. And, oh, the third one is a meteorologist and a highly respected scientist in his own right, not a busty weather girl on TV, as Veverka seems to believe all meteorologists are.

Then there is Robert T. Joseph, Jr., who declares insults alone are reason to impeach President Trump. When a person keeps saying and writing stupid things at some point that person must be regarded as stupid. (Yea I stole that line.) But Robert, an insult is not a high crime, not even any crime. See, that is an insult, not a crime.

Well with that off my chest, even knowing I'll get some blow back from the mostly hot air bunch (yes it's a pun), so now my question. Big debate growing about the president wanting to buy Greenland, which took me by surprise and by the reaction of many, them too. My first reaction was why, is the ice cube industry running low? After a very little research it appears Greenland is supposed to hold huge oil and gas reserves. I didn't know that. First let's take the politics out of this question and forget it's Trump's idea. Would it be good on the one hand to acquire all these resources for future development? On the other hand how much would it cost us in terms of increasing our national debt? Me, I'm torn, I just have no idea which side of this issue to land on so I'm interested to see how many readers have formed an opinion and if even a few can keep politics out of it and can come up with a reasoned position on it?

Readers have you seen/heard that the newest "great idea" from many of those, and I say this with tongue in cheek, news anchors? They are now actually hoping for a new recession in order to get rid of Trump? Well why not a recession isn't going to effect them, their jobs or their bank accounts. Isn't it blatantly obvious that these idiots don't give a damn about average people who actually could lose their jobs because business will fail? Remember that last recession? Were thousands even lost their homes; families were living in their cars, washing every morning in McDonald's bathrooms? Those were some of the luckier ones, too; some had it even worse. Any means justifies their words and actions; they have no empathy for others, just don't care; it's all about them all the time.

Some good stuff, see something say something, is starting to yield results. Three students have, so far, been arrested for planning school shootings. That's more then all the instant gun checks ever have or any of the proposed new enhanced check system ever could. You see we just can't read minds. Plus, as I said before, "It's about the criminals stupid." Look, if we really want to make a serious impact on gun violence we must recognize that the route of the problem is drugs and drug gangs. Of the hundreds who die every year from guns, the vast majority are from criminals and are primarily drug-related, one way or another. On top of that, there are more hundreds who die from OD's. Rival drug gangs go around trying to kill one another and all too frequently kill innocent bystanders, even babies in their cribs. Want this to stop? Crack down on the drug trade, top to bottom, don't let dealers out of jail on the pretext of nonviolent crime, charge them/convict them of every possible offense and keep them in jail until they are to old to feed themselves. Get rid of drugs and dealers and 90 percent of the gun crimes will wither away. One other thing, stop the stupid "gun free zones" that only advertise soft targets for nut jobs.
