WRHS named Division III runner up for sportsmanship award

Winnisquam Regional High School was named the Division III runner up for the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association Sportsmanship Award at the NHIAA Annual Meeting on Sept. 21. The award is voted on by Division III athletic directors with input from their coaches. The NHIAA has overseen high school athletics in New Hampshire since 1948 and works to make athletics an important part of a student's education. Winnisquam Regional School District Athletic Director Ian Snowdeal said the recognition comes from the example set by the school's coaches, who show respect and integrity in everything they do. Student-athletes and fans carry that example on and off the field, at home games and away. "We're proud of the way our Bears represent our school and community," Snowdeal said. "Thank you to our coaches, student-athletes, families and fans for representing Winnisquam with class and positive sportsmanship at our events." The award banner now hangs in the Winnisquam Regional High School gymnasium. Holding the Division III Sportsmanship Award runner up banner, from the left, are Jeffrey Collins, NHIAA executive director; Eric Perry, Winnisquam Regional High School principal; Ian Snowdeal, Winnisquam Regional School District athletic director; and Justin Roy, chair of the NHIAA Sportsmanship Committee and principal of Spalding High School.
