John G. O'Riordan, of Walpole, Massachusetts, and Laconia, formerly of Mendon, Massachusetts, originally of Needham, Massachusetts, passed away on Oct. 17, 2026, peacefully and surrounded by loved ones.

He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Longee) O’Riordan; devoted father of Courtney O’Riordan of Bellingham and Kara (O’Riordan) Bane and her husband Chris of Marlborough; dear brother of Thomas O’Riordan and his wife Mary of Natick, Eileen Powers of Pennsylvania, Stephen O’Riordan and his wife Sandi of Laconia, Breeda Kobler and her husband Dan of New York, and the late Patrick O’Riordan and Michael O’Riordan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

John was a kind and gentle person who brought cheer, wit and terrible jokes to any room he entered. He was so loved by his wife and daughters, and in turn loved them with everything he had. An incredible father, raising his daughters was the pride and joy of John’s life. Every room he walked into was made gentler, kinder and sillier by his presence. The first to volunteer to show up for family, to tell a long-winded story about some obscure rock and roll history, or to lighten a tough moment with a silly joke, the world has gotten so much sadder without him. He will be missed by so many.

Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave., Needham, Massachusetts, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Church, 1382 Highland Ave., Needham, Massachusetts, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Pl. W. Floor #5, Brookline, MA 02445.
