To The Daily Sun,

I am responding to Ruth Larson’s letter. She is a politician and I used to think she deserved that status.

I am an independent who votes for people not parties. I felt bad that she fell for the lies about Israel. I hope Ruth never has to survive by hiding in bomb shelters as alarms go off because missiles are heading for her home.

She is quoting the Hamas propaganda about genocide. Hamas spent 17 years ruling Gaza. They never built anything to help the Gazans; they spent the money they collected building a tunnel network between 350 and 450 miles long, an astounding figure given the enclave is only some 140 square miles in total size. And the Gazans were not allowed to enter those tunnels to hide. Hamas hides behind the Palestinian civilians and stores munitions in children’s bedrooms, hospitals, schools and mosques; the death of martyrs is celebrated; it is PR.

Not that the Palestinian civilians are innocents; they happily participated in the horrible atrocities of the Oct. 7, 2023, attempt at real genocide. Then they brought women, children and old people as hostages, beaten and paraded through the streets after killing 12,000. But still the Israel Defense Force warns them before attacking by dropping pamphlets, making phone calls, texts, etc., to get out of harm’s way. The IDF is the most moral army in the world.

I respect Ruth’s dedication to conservation and her fight for services for the poor. Sadly, she on the wrong side of world news. I am happy with who I voted for on most days.
