Executive Councilor for District 2, Karen Liot Hill, is the only Democrat on the five-member Executive Council. She is the target of an unjustified impeachment attempt by the Republican House. The allegation of “electioneering” cited in House Resolution 41 was reviewed by the New Hampshire Attorney General. After examining the facts, the Attorney General’s Office found no violation of state law or ethics rules.
In Liot Hill’s words, “Despite that, some elected officials are continuing to pursue an impeachment inquiry — not because I did something illegal or unethical, but because they disagree with what I said.”
Impeachment in New Hampshire is extremely rare and reserved for egregious misconduct. This should be the end of the story in our democracy.
